ITW employee Miss Mandy Wakely has recently completed a charity event with a difference in order to raise much needed funds for the research of Leukaemia in children.
Boarding a plane to Kiruna Sweden, Mandy had just half a day to learn how to harness and control a team of Alaskan huskies before setting out on a 100km trek across the Artic, armed with nothing but her faithful travelling companion and good luck charm.
After five gruelling days of seven hour of standing and driving her sled across frozen lakes and vast stretches of harsh snowfields, Mandy successfully completed her trek, tired, more than a little cold, but ultimately very satisfied.
We at ITW are very proud of Mandy’s achievement. Once again a clear demonstration of the fortitude of ITW people willing to strive for better than the normal in order to reach their goal in the service of others.
Well done Mandy.
